Are You a Soft Sell Marketer? Find Out at the “Bridging Heart and Marketing” Soft Sell Conference.

Monday, December 31st, 2007

You won’t get that question answered in theory but with a faculty of heart-based super-star marketers and a program that welcomes those whose prefer the Soft Sell style of marketing.

We’re really excited because a buzz is growing around our Bridging Heart and Marketing conference.

Why?

Because a buzz is growing in the Internet marketing community since the arrival of the soft sell marketer. Well, not the arrival actually, but the willingness of many marketers to stand up, stand out, and make it clear that their Soft Sell way of marketing is profitable without robbing them or their customers of human dignity.

In a marketplace dominated by aggressive, in-your-face, direct marketing tactics, any other approach has had little chance to rise to visibility. And there’s been a lot of vocal dissatisfaction.

We’ve heard people, men and women alike, complain about being shouted at through the sales copy they find on the web and they’re looking for a different way.

We had that same dissatisfaction of not being spoken to but yelled at. And after confering with many marketers at the various conferences we attended they saw a need and decided to fulfill it.

ROI, return on investment, is the measure by which marketers measure the value of their efforts. If their cash investment returns a profit over and above their initial investment they judge their decision to be a good one.

As valuable as ROI is as a measure, it applies to only a very small portion of transactions in the market place. Using it as a measure outside that specific segment creates a distortion for Internet marketers in the way they relate to their prospects and customers.

Customer satisfaction is the key to a continually growing, successful business – a finding securely demonstrated by companies as diverse as BMW, Wyndham Hotels, and Merrill Lynch. And a marketing campaign focused on appealing to women has more power to attract and retain men.

While Internet marketing has, to date, been dominated by men, more and more women are finding a home on the Internet. Female entrepreneurs are taking their marketing style and skills online and are generating a growing market base — including men. Yet, to date, there hasn’t been an Internet marketing conference with their needs and marketing style in mind.

Well, we’re doing something about that.

In our last post we said that “marketing your solution to a problem is a spiritual, even sacred process.” Here’s why.

Typically a marketing/sales transaction is thought of as dollars-given for a product-delivered. And that’s the way most people experience it. Why? Because our commercial culture has never looked at it any more deeply than that.

It’s a simple process. I give you a product, you give me money, end of story.

And most marketers don’t experience themselves as motivated by anything more than money.

But there’s more — so much more.

As you can see, at the top of this page, we’re producing Bridging Heart and Marketing, the first-ever Soft Sell Internet marketing conference, February 22nd, 23rd, 24th 2008, at the Westin Los Angeles Airport, paving the way for those Internet marketers who have not yet had a home in the Internet marketing community.

Okay, so what’s this all about?

Well, the question we get asked (but far less frequently than you might imagine) is – What is a soft sell marketer?

Our best answer is – we are soft sell marketers. But it took some time to find that out.

We began Internet marketing two and a half years ago, after very successful careers as psychotherapists. We bought marketing courses offered by the most successful Internet marketing gurus. We attended weekend workshops and several conferences. And the techniques and strategies we learned were powerful and effective.

Yet, there was always something missing. A feeling like we were outsiders, not quite fitting in.
